From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in search of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Seekers and Planners groups.
Viewers can look forward to learning which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
